Install Solan

The installer builds the Solan executable from source. Internet access and a C compiler are required; the installer may try your system package manager for the compiler.

The quick way: one command

curl -fsSL https://solovip.me/install.sh | sh

Downloads source temporarily and runs the installer without git clone or cd. To pass options: | sh -s -- --prefix ~/.local

Or pick your system

Tested

Detects your distro (apt, dnf, pacman, apk, zypper), installs the compiler and dependencies, then builds and installs. If /usr/local isn’t writable it installs to ~/.local automatically.

terminal
curl -fsSL https://solovip.me/install.sh | sh

Source: github.com/kingxsolo/Solan

Check that it works

terminal
solan -v
solan -e 'اطبع("هلا يا عالم")'

To check your environment before installing, without changing anything: make doctor

install.sh options

  • --prefix DIR — install location
  • --no-deps — don’t touch system packages (assumes a compiler is present)
  • --no-sqlite — don’t bundle SQLite in the executable
  • --dry-run — show what would happen without doing it
