VS Code, LSP, and Editor Tools
A reference for the VS Code extension: syntax highlighting, snippets, brackets, LSP client, solan.path configuration, and known limitations.
Features
What the extension provides
- TextMate grammar for syntax highlighting.
- Snippets, auto-closing brackets, and
////* ... */comment definitions through the language-configuration file. - An LSP client that launches
solan lspover stdio; the server advertises document sync, diagnostics, completion, hover, definition, and document symbols. - README lists
.سو,.an, and.solanfile extensions.
If solan is not on PATH, the VS Code setting solan.path accepts the executable path.
Setup
Setup and extension sources
README identifies editor/vscode/ as the extension source. Its manual method is to copy the folder into the local extensions directory as solan-lang, install vscode-languageclient with npm inside it, then restart VS Code. These installation steps were not performed in this task.
| File | Purpose |
|---|---|
package.json | Extension manifest, dependencies, and client activation. |
extension.js | Starts the LSP client and connects it to the Solan executable. |
language-configuration.json | Brackets, comments, and editor behavior. |
snippets/solan.json | Code snippets. |
syntaxes/solan.tmLanguage.json | Token-coloring grammar. |
README states that the extension was not tested inside VS Code in its development environment; treat this as source-documented support, not a fresh acceptance test.
